A beautiful antique French glove box dating from the late 19th century, circa 1880–1900.

The rectangular box is covered in rich brown crocodile-effect leather and decorated with ornate brass mounts, including a central cartouche, keyhole escutcheon, corner trims and four small brass feet.

The interior is lined with striking turquoise-blue silk, which remains in remarkably good condition for its age. Originally intended to hold a lady’s gloves, it would now make a lovely decorative box for jewellery, letters or other treasured keepsakes.

The box has a wonderful aged appearance and displays beautifully, whether placed on a dressing table, desk or chest of drawers.

It is in good antique condition with age-related wear and marks to the leather and brass, as shown in the photographs. The silk lining is in good condition. The lock is present, but the key is missing.
