Antique French Mother of Pearl Rosary with Hallmarked Silver Crucifix & Centre c.1900–1925

A beautiful antique French rosary made with genuine mother-of-pearl beads and fitted with a hallmarked silver crucifix and matching hallmarked silver centrepiece. Both devotional fittings carry French silver hallmarks, with all pertinent parts crafted in silver.

The rosary is made with softly glowing oval mother-of-pearl beads, a shape that is less commonly found than the round beads usually seen on French rosaries of the period. Each bead has been hand cut, giving the rosary a lovely handmade quality. The beads vary naturally in size, ranging from approximately 5 mm to 9 mm, adding character and individuality to the piece.

The natural lustre of the mother of pearl catches the light beautifully, with subtle variations in colour and tone that only enhance its charm. The silver crucifix is finely detailed with Gothic-inspired decoration, while the matching silver centrepiece complements the design perfectly.

Mother-of-pearl rosaries have long been treasured for their beauty and symbolism, but examples with hand-cut oval beads are rather less common, making this an especially attractive piece.
