Vintage French Copper Sauté Pan with Lid, Heavy Fabrication Française Cookware, Iron Handle
A substantial vintage French copper sauté pan complete with its original fitted lid. It is stamped “Fabrication Française” within an outline of France, confirming its French manufacture. This particular mark is commonly associated with Baumalu copper cookware. 1960's/70's
The deep, straight-sided copper pan has a traditional tin-lined interior and a long iron handle secured by three sturdy rivets. The fitted copper lid has a matching iron handle. Weighing more than 2.5 kg, this is an impressively heavy and well-made piece of traditional French cookware.
The copper has a warm polished finish with areas of natural patina, surface marks and discolouration from age and previous use. The iron handles have naturally darkened over time. The tin lining remains bright and generally presents well, with light marks and signs of use. There are no obvious large areas of exposed copper, although the lining has not been professionally assessed for cooking use.
A handsome and practical piece for a traditional kitchen, and equally attractive displayed as part of a collection of French copper cookware. Please examine all the photographs carefully as they form an important part of the description.
