Vintage French Digoin Sarreguemines Beurre Charentes-Poitou Advertising Butter Dish
A wonderfully distinctive vintage French butter dish made by Digoin Sarreguemines.
Its unusual shell-shaped form has a creamy white glazed interior and warm reddish-brown shading around the fluted exterior. On each side is the charming Charentes-Poitou dairy emblem featuring a little cow, together with the words “Beurre Charentes Poitou – Tradition du Goût.”
Originally produced to promote the celebrated butter of the Charentes-Poitou region, the dish was designed to hold a traditional roll of butter. It would make a lovely addition to a French country kitchen, either for serving butter or simply as a decorative piece of regional advertising pottery.
