A very attractive vintage French wine bottle basket, intricately woven from silver-coloured metal wire and finished with two tall crossing handles.

Designed to hold a bottle at an angle, baskets like this were traditionally used both to carry and present wine at the table. The open lattice sides, tightly woven oval base and carefully wrapped handles give this example a particularly decorative appearance.

It would make a lovely addition to a dining table, drinks cabinet or home bar and could also be used to present a special bottle as a gift.

Dating from approximately the 1950s–1970s, it has a gently aged silvered finish with the patina and minor surface wear expected from a vintage piece. The woven construction appears sound and the basket displays beautifully.
