A striking signed French Art Deco crucifix by the sculptor  S Dermigny, combining the warmth of richly toned wood with a beautifully modelled bronze corpus. Dating from the Art Deco period, this piece displays the clean lines and modernist styling that distinguish Dermigny's religious works from more traditional crucifixes of the late 19th century.

The hardwood cross has a simple, elegant form that allows the bronze figure of Christ to take centre stage. The corpus is finely sculpted with elongated proportions, outstretched arms, and a stylised halo, all characteristic of the Art Deco movement. The bronze retains a lovely aged patina developed over many decades.

The corpus is signed 'S. Dermigny'. The signature appears related to the French religious sculptor Gustave Dermigny, whose works can be found in several French churches from the Art Deco period

Equally suited to devotional use, display, or collection, this crucifix makes a wonderful statement piece and a fine example of French religious craftsmanship from the first half of the 20th century.
