Italian Florentine Folding Triptych, Madonna & Child with Musical Angels, Vintage Religious Icon

This beautiful vintage Italian Florentine folding triptych features a charming Madonna and Child at its centre, beautifully framed by two musical angels. One angel plays the violin while the other holds a tambourine, all set against richly gilded backgrounds with delicate decorative borders. It was bought at a Vide Grenier in France near my home. I am always looking for them and they are becoming more difficult to find. This is larger than the usual ones I find.

Made in the traditional Florentine style, the triptych opens to reveal the three devotional panels and folds closed to protect the artwork when not on display. Whether placed on a shelf, mantelpiece, bedside table or home altar, it creates a striking and peaceful focal point.

Inspired by Renaissance religious art, the central image depicts the Madonna tenderly holding the Christ Child, while the musical angels add a wonderful sense of harmony and devotion. The warm gilt finish reflects the craftsmanship for which Florentine decorative art has long been admired.
