A beautiful vintage French bronze First Communion medal dated 1969 and signed by the renowned medallist Félix Rasumny.

The front is finely modelled in raised relief, depicting Christ giving the Sacred Host to a young communicant. A chalice stands between them, while the halos surrounding both figures complete this tender Eucharistic scene. The artist's signature, F. RASUMNY, appears at the lower left.

The reverse features further symbols of Holy Communion, including a chalice and Host surrounded by rays of light, ears of wheat and a cluster of grapes. Beneath these is a large blank cartouche, originally intended to be engraved with the communicant's name or the date of the occasion. It has remained unengraved.

The rim is marked “1969” and “BRONZE.” The medal has a warm aged patina with light surface marks and wear consistent with its age.

It comes with its original round green presentation box. The box has considerable rubbing, marks and wear around the edges, together with losses to the old paper label inside. Despite this wear, it is a lovely original accompaniment and has protected the medal well.

Félix Rasumny (1869–1940) was a respected Russian-born French sculptor, engraver and medallist known for his beautifully detailed religious and commemorative designs.
