Antique French Lourdes Rosary in Treen Wooden Egg Case

A sweet little French rosary tucked away inside its original wooden egg case. 

The rosary is made with tiny pale blue glass beads linked by metal chain and fitted with a Lourdes medal and crucifix. The back of the cross is marked "Souvenir de Lourdes", showing that it was bought as a keepsake from the famous pilgrimage town of Lourdes in France.

The turned wooden egg unscrews to reveal the rosary inside. Small enough to slip into a pocket or handbag, it was made to travel with its owner and is a lovely reminder of a time when faith was often carried close at hand.

The warm colour of the wood works beautifully with the soft blue beads, giving the piece a simple and appealing look. It would make a lovely addition to a rosary collection, a collection of pilgrimage souvenirs, or simply as a small decorative piece with a story to tell.
