Beautiful antique French Rosa Mystica bénitier, or holy water font, mounted on a rosewood plaque. At the top is an eternal bow. The Rosa Mystica medallion depicts the Virgin Mary in profile, set within an openwork trellis. The gilding contrasts beautifully with the darker metal, with “Rosa Mystica” above the figure.

The font is made of glass, and a hanging ring is fitted to the reverse. A striking devotional piece and thoughtful gift for a First Communion or other religious occasion. Very good condition.
