Antique French Ecce Homo Christ Plaque in Original Frame c.1900

A beautiful antique French devotional plaque dating from around the turn of the 20th century, featuring a moving image of Christ wearing the Crown of Thorns.

The image is wonderfully expressive, showing Christ looking heavenward during His Passion. The colours remain rich and atmospheric, while the original decorative frame, with its gilt and silvered finish, complements the image beautifully.

Pieces like this were often displayed in French homes as an expression of faith and devotion. More than a century later it still has a powerful presence and would make a wonderful addition to a collection of antique religious art, a prayer corner, chapel, or Christian home.

The plaque retains its original hanging loop to the reverse and is ready for display.
