Antique French Mother of Pearl Crucifix with Ornate Hallmarked Silver Floral Mounts, Catholic Pendant

A particularly beautiful antique French crucifix made from luminous mother of pearl and decorated with exceptionally ornate solid silver mounts.

Each end of the mother-of-pearl cross is finished with an elaborate arrangement of sculpted silver flowers, leaves and buds, creating the appearance of tiny floral bouquets. A finely detailed silver corpus of Christ is mounted at the centre, with an INRI plaque above.

The suspension ring bears a clearly struck French crab hallmark, confirming that the silver mounts and fittings are solid silver of at least 800/1000 fineness. The hallmark, materials and style indicate that the crucifix dates from the late 19th or early 20th century.

It measures approximately 3½ inches high by 2¼ inches wide and ¼ inch deep (8.9 × 5.7 × 0.6 cm) and weighs 11.96 grams.

The crucifix remains in good antique condition, with gentle surface wear and patina consistent with age and devotional use.
