A charming antique French combination pocket knife and corkscrew dating from the late 19th or early 20th century. The brass handle is beautifully cast in relief with the figure of a young woman holding a long stem flower, executed in the flowing Art Nouveau style that was so popular during the Belle Époque period.

The blade bears the Pradel mark, associated with the famous French cutlery-making region of Thiers. The Art Nouveau design and construction suggest a date around the turn of the 20th century.

The knife retains its original folding steel blade and corkscrew, making it both decorative and practical. The warm aged brass has developed a lovely patina over the years, highlighting the attractive details of the design. Small figural pocket knives such as this were often carried as everyday accessories and are now sought after by collectors of antique corkscrews, French pocket knives, and Art Nouveau decorative objects.

A delightful piece of French social history with wonderful character and display appeal.
